Our Pastor
Pastor Nick
Our pastor is Nick Scotten. He has been married to his college sweetheart, Margie, for more than three decades, and they have two beautiful married daughters who love the Lord, as well as precious, young grandchildren.
He has served as a pastor for almost a decade before coming to Valley City, and he has spent a great deal of time as a principal and Bible teacher in Christian schools as well. In addition to studying Bible, theology, and church history (among other things) at the bachelor’s and master’s levels, he earned his doctorate at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Pastor Nick loves to study the Word of God and evangelize. He has a real heart for people to come to know the Lord and join with the Lord’s people to worship Christ and be edified by sermons and Bible studies and challenged to glorify the Lord in their lives. Key verses shaping his ministry are Acts 20:28—"Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood,” and Jeremiah 3:15—"Then I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding.”
